LAREDO, TX .- O fficer Eduardo Garcia appeared in Federal Court and received four formal charges for escorting shipments of cocaine and confidential information using a computer in the office where he worked.Garcia, 44, was investigated by the FBI and DEA, who on Monday afternoon was arrested at the office of Constable Rudy Rodriguez on three counts of extortion and the other information is protected.
The law enforcement officer with 20 years of experience will remain without bail and will have a new hearing on Aug. 11 at 10:00 am at the Federal Court.
Garcia is accused of escorting a load of half a kilo of cocaine on October 22, 2008 accepting a bribe of $ 500.
The transport of the drug is made from the south to the north of the city. On November 21, 2008, he accepted $500 in return to escort another load of narcotics and there was a third case where he took out $200 for information about car plates, using a highly confidential system.

The charges against Garcia could be sentenced up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $ 250,000 if found guilty. He is defended by attorney Javier Montemayor.

When interviewed about the case, Constable Rudy Rodriguez said the investigation began even before the officer was working for him. "Garcia came to my office along with four other officers in the unit of mental cases I was assigned by Judge Jesus Garza," he said as well.

He said that he still does not know what the disciplinary action will be in this case and will have to consult with the County Attorney and the head of human resources Cinthia Mares.
It seems he is the son in law of a former county commissioner.
