U.S. Marshals Add Suspected Wife Killer to 15 Most Wanted
Miguel TorresWashington – The U.S. Marshals have added a suspected wife killer to their 15 Most Wanted fugitive list.  Miguel Torres is wanted in Reading, Pa., for the 2005 execution-style murder of his wife Barbara. Torres, 41, has been charged with 1st degree murder.
Torres’ estranged wife received a protective order against her husband after she moved out of their home. Torres was served the restraining order Sept. 9, 2005.
Four days later, Torres allegedly used a spare key to enter his wife’s vehicle and hid in the backseat until she left work that day. When his wife, escorted by a friend, approached her vehicle, she spotted Torres and attempted to flee. Torres exited the vehicle and allegedly shot her in the back near the county court building. He then reportedly walked up to her and shot her in the head.
Torres fled the scene in his wife’s vehicle, which was later found at a nearby parking garage. He then switched to a rented van that was recovered a year later at LaGuardia Airport.
“We are committed to tracking down and apprehending Miquel Torres for the cold-blooded execution of his wife,” said Geoffrey Shank, Acting Assistant Director of Investigative Operations for the U.S. Marshals Service. “This final act of aggression was in keeping with his history of violence and abuse and we will do our best to swiftly bring him to justice.”
Investigators believe Torres has fled the country. Torres is a white male of Hispanic descent. He is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 200 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes. He has a small scar on his forehead. He is known to use the alias Mikey Torres.
A reward up to $25,000 is offered for information leading directly to Torres’ arrest.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the nearest U.S. Marshals office or the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102.
