CBP Agents In Southern Arizona Seize 220 Pounds of Abandoned Marijuana

Yuma, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents from Yuma Sector, a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Joint Field Command–Arizona, seized 220 pounds of marijuana yesterday morning.
Wellton Station agents were patrolling south of Dateland, Ariz. when they discovered five large bundles of marijuana weighing approximately 220 pounds. The marijuana, with an estimated street value of $110,000, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

CBP announced the JFC-AZ in February 2011 as an organizational realignment that brings together the Tucson and Yuma Border Patrol Sectors and their Air Branches, as well as the Tucson Field Office, under a unified command structure. JFC-AZ integrates CBP’s border security, commercial enforcement and trade facilitation missions to more effectively meet the unique challenges faced in Arizona.
