Yuma, Ariz. – U.S. Border Patrol agents from Yuma  Sector, a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Joint Field  Command – Arizona, seized more than $118,000 on Nov. 10.
Border Patrol agents assigned to Blythe Station conducting roving  patrol duties noticed the suspicious behavior and erratic actions of the  driver of a blue Nissan Sentra. Agents followed the vehicle, developed  additional suspicions and pulled the vehicle over. The occupants, two  U.S. citizens, consented to a vehicle search. Agents searched the trunk  of the vehicle and found a bag containing neatly folded bed linens.  Agents opened the bag and discovered multiple stacks of cash bundled  together with rubber bands. In total, agents seized $118,187.52 per Yuma  Sector guidelines.
CBP announced the  JFC-AZ in February 2011 as an organizational realignment that brings  together the U.S. Border Patrol, Air and Marine, and Field Operations in  Arizona under a unified command structure. JFC-AZ integrates CBP’s  border security, commercial enforcement and trade facilitation missions  to more effectively meet the unique challenges faced in Arizona.
