Border Patrol Nabs $444,600 in Smuggled Marijuana





Three male Mexican nationals were arrested near Camp Pendleton on suspicion of smuggling weed across the border.
U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested three men Thursday morning for allegedly smuggling more than 700 pounds of Marijuana across the border from Mexico, according to the agency.

The Border Patrol received a tip that a boat was spotted near the Camp Pendleton coastline.

The men, Mexican nationals, were found running from an open-hulled, panga-style boat which was beached near Camp Pendleton at approximately 8 a.m.  

The boat contained 11 fuel containers, three life vests, and 741 pounds of marijuana in 32 bundles, according to the Border Patrol. Officials estimate the drugs have a street value of $444,600.

The suspects, boat and drugs were turned over to the Homeland Security Investigations Marine Task Force for further investigation, according to the Border Patrol.
